Cartier’s new Amulette de Cartier departs from tradition by focusing, for the first time, on the necklace rather than bracelets or rings. Using natural gemstones chosen for their metaphysical properties as well as their beauty, the pendants are designed as talismans or personal charms to be worn close to the heart. Last year the maison launched the collection with onyx to symbolize courage and mother-of-pearl for protection. This year, the brand has included pink opal to attract happiness, lapis lazuli for serenity, malachite to bring good luck, carnelian for vitality, and chrysoprase to symbolize fulfillment. The gems are framed with gold and the pendant opens and closes like a padlock.
