Long famed for its exquisite pearls, Mikimoto is revamping its collections by introducing colored gemstones into its mix. Using opals, sapphires, diamonds and other gems to subtly accent their famous pearls, these new creations continue to follow the classic designs Mikimoto is known for, but with new, contemporary twists. A triple-strand ocean bracelet uses sapphire separators and clasp to offer just a hint of sea blue. An arabesque baroque cultured pearl necklace sparkles with pear-shaped diamonds delicately set to form the petals of wild flowers. The pairing of baroque pearls with gems makes for some particularly unusual combinations such as a golden baroque South Sea cascade necklace that evokes golden bubbles or tiny pebbles suspended on delicate white gold chains.
