Starting December 4, the Paris Grand Palais will present “Cartier: Style and History,” a 600 item retrospective of Cartier’s collection encompassing more than 150 years. Unlike most exhibitions, the exhibit will be visually contextualized in its cultural and historical environments, and include jewels and watches dated as far back as 1860. Visitors, akin to flipping through the pages of a history book, will be able to view Cartier pieces against the rich setting of the personalities, furniture, clothing, and other social inspirations that informed their design. The show is set to run until February 16, 2014.
