The Jewels by JAR Collection, which opened this week at New York’s Metropolitan Museum, surprised visitors with select for-sale pieces designed exclusively for the show. The prices are remarkable for a designer renowned for his financially and logistically inaccessible jewels. Watches, while not the designer’s forte, are $600, and earrings start at $2,000. Considering the jeweler’s recent auction of a ruby brooch for $4.3 million, prices south of the five-figure range are nothing but a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
