L’École Van Cleef & Arpels is making its American debut. The unique, Paris-based school — which invites students to learn about the many facets of jewelry and watchmaking — is bringing its Place Vendôme classroom experience to the Cooper-Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum in New York City from June 4 to June 18. Twelve courses, based upon the institution’s three educational pillars of Savoir-Faire, The Universe of Gemstones, and Art History of Jewelry, are to be offered. The nontechnical curriculum aims to give the general public an appreciation for superb craftsmanship as well as to nourish a greater, universal understanding of the jewelry world.
