Each year, the number of UHNWIs (Ultra-high-net-worth individuals) in Singapore has continued to grow, making it prime ground for international luxury retail boutiques. Chinese tourists, buoyed by the strength of the yuan, have been among the small country’s main consumers. Visitors from Indonesia and Australia are also high on the list of travelers looking for high-end luxury brands. Some of the brands that have recently expanded their presence to Singapore include British men’s tailor Gieves & Hawkes; Delvaux, a premium leather-goods chain from Brussels; Marimekko, a Finnish fashion retailer; and the luxury pearl retailer Mikimoto.
