February 19 ushers in the Chinese New Year of the Goat, and in honor of the promise of a new year, Mikimoto has unveiled three new pearl collections all designed around themes of luck and good fortune. The auspicious number eight was muse for the Double Eight (88) Collection and a stunning strand that includes 88 cultured pearls all 8 to 8.8 mm in size. The necklace is finished with an 18-karat white gold clasp designed as interconnected circles forming the figure eight. The Ruyi Collection draws inspiration from Chinese lucky knots, which symbolize eternity and fortune. This collection uses a variation of the winding long knot that represents one of the eight treasures in Buddhism. The Clover Collection uses the classic four-leaf clover symbol of luck and features a four-leaf clover design with Japanese Akoya cultured pearls in 18-karat white or yellow gold with diamonds.
