Like the Tiffany T collection it was built to showcase, a life-size subway car created for Tiffany & Co. by the Sid Lee firm is sleek and minimalistic. The subway car was installed in New York’s Dia:Chelsea gallery, where guests were invited inside to view the new collection by Francesca Amfitheatrof. Master engravers were seated at workbenches at the car’s far end, where they were available to custom engrave bracelets. The gallery was recreated to evoke the mood of a train station at night. Skylights were darkened, a bench and streetlamp were installed, and suitcases were placed strategically around the scene. A Tiffany representatives has hinted that the car will appear at more locations in due time.
