BY LESLIE JORDAN CLARY
An exclusive selection of vintage Chanel jewelry is now available at Fortnum & Mason’s flagship in London. The selection, hand-picked by vintage jewelry expert Susan Caplan, who travels the world in search of unique vintage jewelry, includes a classic gold necklace circa 1960 and gold earrings from the 1990s. Chanel’s vintage costume jewelry is some of the most coveted jewelry among fashion collectors. While anything with the Chanel label is valued, the postwar comeback period is a highly desirable era, as are more recent designs by Karl Lagerfeld. Before the 1950s, most Chanel jewelry had no signature. During subsequent years, the Chanel signature took on several different looks, sometimes with two variations in a single year. The curated collection is located next to the vintage Chanel handbags at Fortnum & Mason.
