Brief: Monocle, Barena team up for travel jacket
BY TRAVIS AUSTIN HUSE
The magazine Monocle has partnered with Italian clothier Barena for a smart-looking flannel blazer. Barena’s entire focus is based upon the historic Venetian style, which is shaped primarily by versatility. They pride themselves on making clothing that is not only stylistically fresh and classic, but also able to withstand the rigors of daily work. Most of their wools come from the archives of a now-closed factory in the Italian region Veneto, and they have been using Venetian wool since their inception in 1961. The travel jacket is an excellent example of their work, a short-cut flannel piece with patch pockets that could be worn easily in any setting, from a casual day at the park to a hike through the woods.
